Finger strength math

Calculate max hang training load

This hangboard calculator combines body weight, added weight, and pulley assistance to estimate your maximum total load. Choose a percentage to calculate a repeatable training load in kilograms or pounds.

Keep edge size, hang duration, grip type, shoulder position, and testing protocol consistent when comparing sessions. Changes in any of these can make finger-strength results misleading.

Safety first. Hangboarding is high intensity. Warm up, avoid full crimping unless coached, stop if you feel pain, and seek qualified medical or coaching advice when needed.
How does the hangboard calculator work?

Enter body weight, added weight or pulley assistance, edge size, and hang duration from a max hang test. The calculator finds total system load and scales it to your chosen intensity.

How is max hang load calculated?

Total max load equals body weight plus added weight minus assistance. Relative finger strength divides that total by body weight and expresses it as a percentage.

What does a negative added weight mean?

It means the target load is below body weight. Remove that amount with a pulley, resistance band, or another controlled assistance setup.

Is this a hangboard training plan?

No. It is a load calculator, not medical advice or a personalized program. Hangboarding has injury risk, especially without training experience, warm-up, and sound technique.
